Lost Hope, Now Found Stage 1
Artemis de Beaumont POV
I hated Court life, I could never really dive in and spread gossip like normal woman of the court did. My sister always said I had the sound and heart of a knight, so in her name I became just that a Knight.

As a noble and a woman it was frowned upon that I would take up the sword instead of a sewing needle, fighting was a male’s job not a mere woman’s. But I did and fought for my title as Le Chevalier Artemis, Chevalier féminin de la cour grande de la France. So many years of training and prejudice I had gained a title and found my happiness in life. I was my sweet but fragile sister’s knight.

Then on the first day of winter my sister died, no murdered. Lian body, my beautiful sister’s body was found floating face down in Seine. Her body drained of all its blood and carved into her back was the word “Vampyre”.

Vampyre. Children of the Night who need to feed off us, the Children of the Day so they can live. Lian would tell me stories of vampyre’s but I never believed it to be anything other then that, a story. How wrong I was, my sister warned me. She was warning me about these dreadful creatures.

I despised them!

They took my away my sister! How dare they!

I prayed they’re existence gone, but little did I know I would fall from Grace for one of them.

The Goddess had thrown us together and she was going to get results not matter what or no matter the price.

Normal POV
Versailles winter of 1718

Clear twilight eyes stared out of the as the snow littered the royal palace with it’s glossy cold tips, these eyes held pain beyond what a human should know both pain of loved one and the pain of vengeance.

The twilight eyes turned away from the pretty seen to an ancient almost broken book that was held slender moon-pale fingers. The words were written with sly penmanship, the twists and turns would confuse any common man. Lucky enough this she wasn’t a man, the pages were turned by the slender fingers making it creak in protest. The reader seemed to have ignored this.

“Oh Lord let them be clothed in shame at those who mock at thine hurt, let the nations of the world know they are not but men and break these sinners with a rod of iron in the name of that truth and loyalty I will have my vengeance upon you” the readers voice was soft and feminine but filled with authority as she read the Psalm.

“The Psalm of Vengeance, to think I would read such a thing, vengeance leads no where but damnation” she muttered closing the book and setting it down amongst the piles of books.

Elbow length crimson hair brushed her swan like neck and moon-pale heart shaped face that beheld two lush rosy lips with a button noses. Two cold but twilight twinkling eyes shined with stubbornness and intelligence. Firm but Slender arms and legs connected to a lithe making her look almost elfin; her ears had an ear piercing made of beads dangling. She was 5’5 with her medium sized chest was covered with a low necked sapphire Lyonnais silk sack back gown that showed off her neck and shoulders, the sleeves were tight elbow-length and were trimmed with red ruffles with white lace engagneantes that was tacked to a smock. From the neck line down the dress was line with silver thread that wove the petticoat and the front of the gown together.

The light of the oil lamps caused the maiden to look like an other worldly being, or even a Dark Eve. What gleamed just as brightly as her eyes was silver necklace of a crucifix with amethysts and diamonds decorating the simple silver cross. She wore nothing else of value it seemed, the only thing that seemed off place of this noble woman was she had a sword strapped to her waist and a gun attached to her right thigh.

“*1 Mon chevalier de Madame pardonnent pour l'attente” a voice interrupted her thinking making her turn to see a young page had entered the chamber, a smile formed on her face making her look angelic features brighten even more. The poor Page blushed and turned his eyes downward hoping God grated him strength to fight off this ungodly lust for this Great woman.

The lady knight took a minute to ponder then spoke her voice calm and smooth-“*2 N'inquiétez pas la jeune page que je ne vous punirai pas, mais faites attention très sur la façon dont vous vous manipulez devant une femme même si elle est un chevalier ils peuvent prendre l'offense et ne pas être comme pardonnant en tant que moi” she then laughed, her laugh sounding like a bell softly chiming in the wind.

Without a word the young page opened the door for her and bowed low showing her that he understood. Getting up the young female knight left that boring grand room only to walk into another boring grand room, the Grand ball room it was lined with white stone and gold trimmings with bronze clothed curtains that sparkled in the bright oil light, fresh oak wood chairs were moved to the sides of the room so dancers could dance to their hearts content. The knight found it boring and depressing, for she missed her sister, the reason she became a knight was gone.

“Sir Artemis! Is that you my you look beautiful! Your late sister would be proud to see you so elegant looking” a voice said making her turn to face the one who had spoken those flattering words. Only to come face to face with an older lady who she did not know, the woman was 5’9 towering over her. Her aged face was painted an artificial white that made the poor woman look pasty and sick looking vs. the young female knights own healthily glowing porcelain skin. Despite the white paint on the woman’s face you could see tear stains and black lines under her eyes, making the young frown in empathy. Her pink powdered dress didn’t seem to make her mood or her face any brighter, the smudges of rouge did but gave the woman clown type of look.

“Forgive me Madame but I have not been given the pleasure of meeting you yet” Artemis said a smile crossing her face, a knight is always supposed to treat a lady such as that, a lady even if they did not look like one.

“Oh! Such manners and a sharp tongue as well you are Artemis de Beaumont the younger sister of Lian” her sisters name came out with a sob, the poor woman couldn’t keep the fat tears from running down her face. Taking pity on her Artemis glided over to her and wrapped her arms around the woman letting her cry into her neck.

“Such a sweet child you are helping poor little me, Lian would be very proud” the woman babbled praising Artemis with wondrous comments. A pretty blush sparkled onto the young girls cheeks at such comments making the older woman laugh at her modesty. A knight was to be modest and passionate, chivalrous to all, humble to all people in the eyes of our Lord God and Lady Goddess-she silently added-as her thoughts of her training swept through her mind.

“It must be terrible for you since his Majesty King Louis has gone and down a silly little thing to call about their kind, and right your sisters murder to” the woman harked her face frowning in displeasure. Artemis’s twilight eyes shinned with worry at what the woman said…”No, it couldn’t be-

“What is this silly thing that the King has done that is unforgivable in your eyes” she stated, concern now entering her eyes as the woman glared towards the throne where the king sat talking with an attractive young royal.

“He has went and connected with them…” she paused and her glare became even more harsh as she glared at the young royal who’s raven black hair was raised in a high pony tail and had a strong muscular build but was still slightly slender giving them a female look to all that strength.

“Who?” young Artemis said as she watched the young royal turn and locked eyes with her, cold cobalt blues met warm twilight. The blush that once was gone crept but up as the young royal smirked at her…but her eyes would widen when the last few words were spat out of the woman’s mouth…

“Those damned Vampyre’s” she hissed.

(I hope you guys like the chapter! Artemis’s lover will be introducing in better detail next chapter lol! Oh and please leave me a review!!!!! *1: “I’m sorry my lady knight to keep you waiting”, *2: Do not worry young page I will not punish you, but be very careful on how you handle yourself in front of a woman even if she is a knight they may take offense and not be as forgiving as I)
If you must also know I'm using the old English way of spelling vampire, instead it's vampyre...
